High Income Business Opportunities With Minimal Risk

Wednesday, September 27th, 2006

We all would love to have gifted to us high income business opportunities - ideally with little or no risk and indeed little or no money down.

The fact of the matter is somewhat different. The simple truth is as follows:

High Income Business Opportunities usually:

1. Are High Risk

2. Require Investment

3. Require Time/Effort On Your Part

Naturally there are exceptions to every rule but the above will stand you in good stead.

And with all the above said, what high income opportunities are available to you as a business bearing in mind you want to mitigate your risk/limit your exposure.

Opportunity #1 - The EBay Monster

With over 200,000,000 registered users this is a massive marketplace selling every conceivable item you could imagine. There are estimated to be over 800,000 people making a full time living on EBay alone and using the 80/20 rule - 20% of them are doing it well. If you could be one of those 20% you would be laughing all the way to the bank - literally.

There is a small problem - time and money. You’ll need to “invest” both to become proficient in selling on EBay (trust me on this) or else you’ll end up with your wallet in a financial sling.

The following is a course you might want to consider - it is the “Rolls Royce” of it’s type so you will pay a premium for it:

Auction Genius Course

It will arm you well and save you considerable time/money thus reducing your risk.

Opportunity #2 - The Network Marketing Model

There are 2 major issues with this model:

1. Pyramid schemes - These are fraudulent (also called Ponzi) schemes setup with the express purpose of separating you from your hard earned cash. Far too many people have been deterred from legitimate network marketing opportunities as a result. This is why you have to exert due diligence when choosing a specific opportunity - be very careful and do you research before you join up.
2. Focus - Most people who get involved in the Network Marketing industry (I know because I was one of these who made this mistake - so take heed!) subscribe to too many “opportunities” - this means they spread themselves too thinly and as a result make little or no progress in their chosen system. If you are going to join up and get involved, do so by taking “baby steps”:

2a. Make sure you join up with one system and get to know it inside out as well as how to promote it.

2b. Make sure the product behind the “opportunity” is high quality and has a genuine market outside of the network marketers who join in the first place!

2c. Make sure you invest only as much as you can afford to spend (there’s no point spending $100/month+ on subscriptions if you cannot afford it).

2d. Give it a fair chance - honestly try your best for at least 6 months with the systems/tools provided and see if it really delivers. If you have done the above and still see no results, you will have learned a lot to apply on another opportunity and have saved yourself a lot of time and effort moving forward.

Given the above caveats, there is a simple way I can recommend you to get started as it meets all the above criteria:

The .ws Website Opportunity

Opportunity #3 - Education

This is more “preventative” rather than an opportunity. In order for you to reap the rewards of any business you sow. In addition, there are a huge number of ideas contained within this resource which will stand you in good stead whilst you research more high income business opportunities.

If you “educate yourself”, you “insure yourself” from the ignorance of not knowing the risks which inevitably face you.

There is one resource I know which fits the bill and it’s by the business marketing mastermind himself: Jay Abraham.

I have personally invested in one of his very high ticket items (and it was worth every penny) but he has recently released a convenient digital version of his hugely popular Mr X book.

Quite simply brilliant:

Mr X - The Business Marketing Bible

The above resources should give you some food for thought when you next look for a high income opportunity.

Above all else remember this:

“If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

How about you - have you spotted any business opportunities you know to be fantastic?

All the best,

Tom

What Are The 8 Steps To The Scientific Method?

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006

I can picture the scene (having been there, done that and bought the T-Shirt at home). Your little bundle of joy has been given a project at school and told to use the scientific method.

“Mummy/Daddy - can you help with my project, I have to use the Scientific Method…”

“Oh right”

And there you have it, you are left scratching your head as to what the hell you need to do?

It has been one or twenty years since you were last in this position so you can be forgiven in not remembering or indeed for that matter knowing.

Fear not, here’s the 8 steps you need to take to let them know how to undertake their project the right way:

1. Identify the issue.

2. Refer to well chosen authority sources - as many as you can.

3. Ask a relevant question.

4. Develop a theory.

5. Perform the experiment.

6. Record the steps (method) used and the results.

7. Report the experiment.

8. Analyze the outcome and develop a conclusion.

Which raises an interesting question - what’s the most bizarre/shocking question your kid came up with and asked you?

I hate to admit it but I should have written all those gems down when they popped out of their larynxes (I was usually laughing too much to do so), how about you, what have your wunderkinds asked that got you thinking or belly laughing?

All the best,

Tom

Which Classical Music Online Radio Station Should You Listen To Relax Whilst In The Office?

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006

This is for me an easy one and you’ll find me with my headphones on listening on a regular basis to the what I consider to be the very best classical music station online:

ClassicFM.com

Of course, the rest of the time my head can be heard banging away to the sounds of Linkin Park, Greenday, Prodigy & No Doubt to name but a few!!!

For those of you in the states, the best time to really unwind is 2pm to 4pm EST - this translates to “Smooth Classics at 7″ over here.

Tune in, switch off.

But don’t let your boss catch you snoozing - remind them how classical music makes for more intelligent employees and if that doesn’t work, get them to take a chill pill and put some headphones on them!

How about you?

What station do you listen to online for relaxation?

All the best,

Tom

Millionaire Row Orlando Florida - Here I Come…

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006

I’ve been to Orlando once before and it was not the most pleasant of experiences in my life (I did the DisneyWorld experience with the family but also had tonsillitis and on top of that a horrible “4 Star” hotel - yeah right! - to stay in).

But I’m not bitter ;-)

Many people’s idea of the perfect hideaway is indeed millionaire row in Orlando - so called because…

Yes, you’ve guessed it, there are one or two well heeled people living there. So ponder this - if you were to live in your dream place and money was no object, where would it be?

Personally, (and nothing against Orlando) Orlando is not likely to be the place I decide to roost. Instead, if it were the States, I think I’d look a bit further west - New Mexico is nice by all accounts, San Diego and indeed the Bay area too.

But if I had to be pushed to decide on the dream place to live (naturally with all my millions in tow - lol), I would probably look somewhere closer to home. A Tuscan villa perhaps?

Oh the quandry of it all, so many places, so much to choose from, so little time… ;-)

How about you?

Where is your dream place to retire to and/or live and why?

All the best,

Tom

Joint Venture Brokering- What’s It All About?

Monday, September 25th, 2006

Simply put, joint venture, or JV, is a partnership between two or more people with complementing businesses. The partnership is meant to reap some highly advantageous rewards for the partners.

There are many kinds of joint ventures. There are joint ventures that are meant to expand each partner’s inventory. There are joint ventures that are meant to boost the marketing mileage of each partner’s products. There are joint ventures that allow the partners to save on otherwise costly expenses.

And there are joint ventures that are meant to catapult a business’ credibility to be on par with the illustrious brands of the enterprises they have joined.

These different types of joint ventures, and more, shall be discussed in succeeding chapters.

Naturally, a joint venture is a conglomeration of numerous parties.

Now, who will bring those parties together?

A JV broker, of course!

Joint venture brokering is the process of organizing projects that will prove to be profitable for the partners who participate in such an enterprise.

As a JV broker, you can think of yourself as a middleman. Your responsibilities can be divided into the following:

• Conceptualizing an idea that will be advantageous for some people.

• Forming an initial plan that will form an outline for the idea you have in mind.

• Finding partners who are willing to partake in your plan.

• Suggesting a profit-sharing scheme that will be amenable for the people who participate in your joint venture.

• In certain instances, supervising the conduct of the joint venture.

A Positive Response To Negative Personal Power

Saturday, September 16th, 2006

I just read a thought provoking blog post by Laurie The Traveller.
I’m warning you know it’s a long read but I found it a very interesting one indeed. In it she dispenses advice for free but rightly ascribes a price tag of $997 to it. Indeed it could of course be argued the advice is priceless and timeless in it’s own right and it shows you how you can have a postive response to negative personal power.
We all have negative thoughts from time to time, but many of us dwell on them for far too long - thus magnifying their results and asking for more of the same to come hit us in the chops again and again.

Whilst you cannot ignore such thoughts, you can put them in their rightful place - one such mantra is given by Laurie:

“I wouldn’t doubt it for all the money in the world but I simply cannot think that way, okay? okay? okay? okay? okay? OKAY!, then STFU!”

STFU?
I’ll let Laurie explain that little acronym in her own inimitable style ;-)
Thoroughly recommend you take some positive action and head on over to Laurie’s blog for a read of:

The Use Of Rewards & Punishment To Influence Behaviour

Saturday, September 16th, 2006

Should it be the carrott or should it be the stick?

Perhaps you’re looking to influence your own behaviour, perhaps others. You have a pre-determined goal where you want a specific outcome to take place but which should it be?

But why should it be one or the other?

You could adopt an approach whereby both are adopted in order to hit a specific goal. I’m not talking seriously punitive (unless you have a sadistic streak with others and/or a masochistic streak with yourself - both of which have negative consequences) when it comes to “punishment”.

You could for example have a graded system of reward for hitting a goal - this works well if the goal is quantatively measurable (eg. I’ll do 100 sit-ups). Perhaps you can reward yourself commensurate with your achievement.

For 100 sit-ups you get X.

For 120 sit-ups you get X+Y.

Etc…

Failing to hit the hundred in the first place would be the “punitive element” (i.e. you just don’t get anything at all).

Or as a punitive task, maybe you could integrate something you don’t particularly like to do but you know will ultimately be very good for you - again this is another positive way of punitively rewarding yourself.

Of course I’ve talked about “self” here but the same principle applies to others.

And how about the concept of letting the action be the reward in itself?

Here’s an interesting article on just this concept by Keith Rosen:

Let The Action Be The Reward

Tom

Blogs - Optimization For Your Target Audience

Friday, September 15th, 2006

First up whatever you’re doing is probably wrong.

Secondly, whatever you’re doing is probably right!

Errr, seems a tad confusing doesn’t it, well the truth is we’re talking about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and this is just as much an art form as a science.

The good news is, there may not be rules but there are guidelines you can follow to help you get the traffic you want.

1. Have Something Useful To Say

Make sure whatever your post is for it passes the following test:

Read the post yourself and if you have lost the will to live or are bored sh*tless, it’s time to change the content or not bother at all!

2. KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid!)

Avoid acronyms (if you do add them, make sure you explain them straight away) and keep big words to a minimum. If you don’t, you’ll obfuscate the meaning of your message ;-) . Remember, just because it’s common knowledge to you, it isn’t to everyone else - or put another way “We’re all ignorant - only on different subjects”.

(BTW (By The Way) - To obfuscate means to make things more difficult to read, if you’re a pedant you will no doubt supply a stricter definition - along with one for pedant too!)

3. Break It Up

A blog with one sentence crashing into the next, into the next… is very hard to read and comprehend. Split things up with proper use of bold and headlines. Remember you want to keep your reader attentive.

4. Eye Candy

Get your own theme for your blog - make it stand out from the crowd but at the same time be visually easy on the eye and appealing. One thing you don’t want to do is go mad with HTML having colours everywhere, blinking graphics and fonts that blend into the page. You’d be surprised - it still happens in 2006, and those blogs just don’t get read (except for search engine spiders).

5. Titles And Headlines

Spend a little time thinking of a good title - it’s got to be informative, short, snappy and attention grabbing. Oh and if you can incorporate your keywords into your title - way to go! There’s nothing worse than seeing a headline like: “What I Did Today” (Unless you’re a really interesting person who’s already well known) or “Another Post…” - No one will read ‘em.

That’ll do for now, I’ll come back again to add some more at some point (time being what it is, I’ve got to get onto the next task…)

All the best,

Tom

Mozilla Firefox Start Page Web Acceleration

Friday, September 15th, 2006

I don’t know about you but I love to use Firefox rather than good old Internet Exploder [sic]. I’ve just come across a tip provided by Jason M. Hanley that will save me valuable seconds each day - and I’ve managed to speed it up some more too!
We all have our habits when opening up browsers and yours truly is no different. If you don’t want to go through the rigmarole of opening up multiple windows or tabs every single time, here’s what you need to do:

1. Create a new folder on your toolbar (Right click, “New Folder…”).

2. Add the pages you want to startup to it (bookmark them or drag and drop them from your existing bookmarks.

3. Select Tools -> Options… -> General -> Use Bookmark - Now select the new folder (I called mine Startup rather originally ;-)

4. Save it and next time you start up Firefox, your favourite sites will instantly be loaded.
Nice one Jason!

All the best,

Tom

Overcome Procrastination, Montreal, London, Paris - No Matter Where You Are

Friday, September 15th, 2006

Maybe I’ll write this blog post…

Oh I dunno, maybe I won’t…

I bet you put things off - “on the long finger” as it were.

A humourous quote oft heard to justify procrastination goes along the following lines:

“Why do something today if you can put it off till tomorrow”

Well, it’s kinda funny but if you use this mantra as part of your daily life then you’ll likely find yourself under an increasing amount of stress as things start to mount up more and more. Somethings got to give and that something will inevitably be you.

So what can you do to get control of your time?

  1. Set yourself a specific deadline —a task without a deadline can be put off and off, and off…
  2. Reward yourself — (only after you accomplish the task mind!). Make the reward applicable to the task. If you’ve cleaned your email inbox out, that might be worth a glass of wine this evening (if it really is unruly) - it doesn’t warrant a Ferrari though!
  3. Have accountability — try to get someone you know (who doesn’t mind kicking some butt) to follow up with you on a task you have committed to. You might want to give them an incentive for catching you out - that’ll keep them and you on their/your toes.
  4. Hardest Top Priority First - Make sure you get the most difficult and high priority jobs finished early in the day - you have more energy to do so and you will feel a justified sense of accomplishment.
  5. Break it down - How do you eat an elephant? - One piece at a time - not that I condone eating elephants but you get the idea regarding splitting the task into manageable bite-sized chunks.
  6. Do it now — What are you waiting for?

All the best,

Tom

Bugger! - The Law Of Attraction - Reap What Ye Sow

Thursday, September 14th, 2006

Found this article by Kate Corbin, it nicely puts into perspective what the whole universe is all about in terms of cause/effect. What you think and feel is what you’re gonna get.

Given we all have less than positive thoughts, it goes to show how we can have rather unfortunate circumstances coming to roost.

Or put another way - if you have too many recurring negative thoughts then:

Bugger!

(And that’s the polite version!)

If you have a problem with metaphysics (or even quantum physics for that matter) then this article may be too fluffy for you, but I’d recommend you give it a whirl nonetheless. What have you to lose except that most precious commodity: Time!

So, here it is in it’s entirety, enjoy:

“And the universe is just a big Xerox machine. It simply produces multiple copies of your thoughts.” – Neale Donald Walsch.

Law of Attraction. According to the Law of Attraction, at every moment, you are in the process of attracting to yourself whatever you are giving your attention to. You are continuously drawing into your life the essence of what you predominantly think and feel. By consciously focusing your thoughts and feelings, you can attract what you want and STOP attracting what you don’t want.

As you Think, you Feel.

As you Feel, you Vibrate. As you Vibrate, you Attract.

The Law of Attraction responds to your vibrational offering with a matching vibrational response. Your vibrational offering is composed of your thoughts and accompanying feelings – your “Thought-Feelings.” Thought-Feelings are powerful magnets, attracting into your life their vibrational equivalent.
The Formula. When you understand the Law of Attraction Formula, you understand the process of manifestation. When you apply the Law of Attraction Formula, you become the conscious creator of your own life. Here’s the formula:
Think + Feel = Attract

The Universe takes your Thought-Feelings at face value. When you focus Energy with your Thought-Feelings, the Universe doesn’t know whether you’re focusing on something you want to happen or something you’re afraid might happen. It’s important, therefore, to focus all your Energy on what you do want and avoid putting any Energy into worrying about something you don’t want.

To increase your power of attraction, get yourself to the feeling place of your desire – think and feel with great emotion how it will feel to experience the object of your desire. To become a more powerful magnet for your desires, make powerful declarative statements – I am wealthy. I am gorgeous. Everybody loves me. Everything I desire comes easily and joyfully to me. But most of all, declare with all your heart – I am absolutely and eternally wonderful and worthy of everything I desire. To make sure you’re a magnet for what you want rather than what you don’t want, the key is to always choose empowering Feel-Good Thoughts.

Attract with Feel-Good Thoughts. When you feel good, stay with it and expand on it. When you’re feeling prosperous / healthy / joyful, amplify these feelings. As you think and feel from a place of abundance, joy and confidence, you create more of the things you want. When you feel bad, shift to a thought that feels better. As you think and feel from a place of doubt, fear and insecurity, you create more of the things you do not want. When you find yourself feeling poor / unwell / sad, move away from these feelings by choosing thoughts that feel better.

You create your life moment by moment as you notice how your thoughts make you feel and then consistently choose thoughts that feel better. As you choose Feel-Good Thoughts, you take back your power to create your own life. As you apply the formula Think + Feel = Attract, you truly can be and do and have whatever you desire.

What The Fcuk Am I Doing?

Thursday, September 14th, 2006

Have you ever asked yourself the above question (perhaps spelled differently or indeed differently worded ;-) .
I know I have, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa…

I certainly am responsible for the cock-ups I have brought upon my own head, we all are.

Fear not, here’s a very useful little exercise you can apply to make sure you are on the right track to achieve your goals - or at least ensure you are able to stop at the next station and get off the train! .

1. Take 10 minutes out for yourself (no distractions).
2. Ask yourself each of the following questions and write the answers down (don’t worry, it’s just for your eyes only so be honest):
Why did I start doing what I’m doing?
Why am I still doing this?
Why should I keep doing what I’m doing?
3. You will definitely see things a lot more clearly or as a wise man I know oft told me: “Tom, I can’t give you certainty but I can promise you clarity…”
4. Remember the reason regularly why you started doing this to reinforce your actions.
5. Rinse and repeat the above - it doesn’t take long but it could save you a whole lot of time in the long run.

A very useful checklist to bring you back on track.

All the best,

Tom

Do You Believe? No Really Do You Believe?

Thursday, September 14th, 2006

A little quote to get the grey cells thinking:

“He who has a why can endure any how.” - Friedrich Nietzsche
I guess the moral of the story (however short it is above!) is to have something you truly believe in 100%. If you have that, if you have belief, then that mountain might just be moved…

How Can An Ironman Help You Achieve Your Goals?

Thursday, September 14th, 2006

I think the first time I knew anything about “Ironmen” (and ladies too of course) was watching an episode of Magnum years ago. In it he entered the triathlon on Hawii and did a u-turn to solve the case (and making others watching believe he’d lost the plot entirely).

Many people think such extreme sports are just not good for the body - or at least they cannot envision themselves completing what they perceive as superhuman feats. I hear you on that if you’re thinking that, I’m certainly in no shape right now to undertake such a feat.

That said, who knows what the future holds…

But, back to goal setting for a moment, I came across this article and found it a very interesting read. It focuses on 3 key aspects you need to concentrate on in order to achieve your goals:

1. Getting and staying “in the zone”

Optimal Performance Zone
Always achievable, but not always easy to achieve, is the goal to be activated but not stressed out before and during the race. It’s good to review past experiences in sport and life when you have been really “on”, or “in-the-zone”…

2. Paying attention to the here and now:

Attentional Control
Your goal for any key race, regardless of fitness level, should be to remain as “on-task” as possible all day long. This is no small feat in Ironman. It’s a long time to be out there! One of Lisa Bentley’s biggest strengths as an athlete, in training and racing, is her ability to focus on “what is happening right now” for a long time…

3. Having the right technical skillset

Technical Expertise
Your goal should be to perform within your own level of personal expertise. This includes being systematic about your tested nutrition regime, swimming, bike climbs and descents, run pacing, etc., to the best of your ability…

Tom
